Implant Retained Denture (4 implants or more)

Implants used to retain/stabilize dentures can greatly improve comfort, stability, and confidence compared to traditional removable dentures. They help prevent slipping while eating or speaking, allowing patients to enjoy a wider variety of foods and communicate more naturally. Implant-retained dentures also reduce pressure on the gums and help preserve jawbone structure over time. In many cases, an existing denture can be modified to fit and attach to implants, eliminating the need to remake the denture entirely. Overall, dental implants provide a more secure, convenient, and long-lasting solution for denture wearers.

There are 2 general kinds of implant retained dentures.

  • Screw retained - the denture is physically screwed into the implant and can not be removed by the patient. Only the dentist has the ability to remove the denture. The denture will need to be cleaned by the dentist every 6 months to maintain proper oral hygiene.
  • Snap-on - the denture is stabilized by the use of suction cup like devices that will “snap on” and hold the denture. This style allows the denture to be removed by the patient at any point for proper cleaning.
