Sealants

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings, usually made of a tooth-colored resin, that are painted onto the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars) to seal off the deep grooves where food and bacteria tend to get trapped. The procedure is quick, painless, and requires no drilling.

Sealants are most commonly recommended for children and teens as soon as their permanent molars come in, but adults at higher risk for cavities can also benefit. Once applied, sealants can protect teeth from decay for many years and are an extremely effective, cost-saving way to prevent cavities.
